I'd swap the lid for the other style. No real
reason to stick with the 'original equipment';
any lid of the same size should do. A second-
hand one from an otherwise defunct kiln might
be possible to obtain, even where you are.
Building one of softbrick and hose clamps might
be feasable, too.

I have been seriously considering converting my Land L 18hx29w to propane.
I don't think it's a serious problem, but I am concerned about the metal bar
running though the middle of the lid. Has anyone converted a kiln with a
bar through the top, and how would you cut the flue vent? That's the part
that's got me stumped. Any ideas? Melinda Collins, Antigua, Guatemala
