My thought too. But was waiting for our resident "saftey Gurus"
to pipe up. While we myopically quibble about the "angels on a
pinhead" topic of iron leaching, we overlook the hazards of ceramic
fiber dust. :-( ;-)
"Weedhoppa, sometime old, way best way." Make clay tiles/discs
and put kiln wash on them to catch drips. It is a very cheap
solution. Wads help too, especially if you know you are going to
have a runny glaze. If you are working with large pieces, pack sea
shells with wadding to keep their shape. Remove shells by setting the
pot bottom in water. Be careful about the paste that is created,
because it is caustic. Rinse well before you smooth the bottom.
