A few weeks ago I posted to this list that my wife and I were going to be
traveling to North Carolina for a celebration of our 25th wedding
anniversary, and I wondered whether there were any enclaves of potters
down there. Well!!!!!!!!!! I received mountains of replies from wonderful
clay folks all over, recommending hundreds of potters. I'm still stunned.

We fly tonight to Winston-Salem, and will travel to Seagrove, Asheville,
Penland School, Sanford (I know we missed the big feast - couldn't be
helped) - well, we'll just be all over the western half of the state. I
wish we could visit every one of you and oogle your work!

So, if you see a road-weary bearded guy and his vibrant wife - it might be
us!

George,
I have been offline or would have sent this earlier. Do you know about the Burlon Craig festival in Lincolnton next Saturday? It is the second annual pottery show honoring the last true "folk potter" of the Catawba Valley. He died a few years ago...he's spoken of extensively in Terry Zug's book, "Turners and Burners." It would be a wonderful thing to check out if you're still in this neck of the woods.
