I've seen at least three comments recently similar to
that I've pasted below.

Please be aware that Bartlett (the kiln controller
people) make a kiln controller into which you plug YOUR kiln.
Works the same as if the kiln came with it.
It's an add-on, mounts on a wall near the kiln,
costs about $600 (I think) which makes it
a heck of a lot cheaper than replacing your kiln,
if all you're after is a controller.
Just a thought.

I'm also considering a used Paragon that is larger,

On the wall is the very best place for a controller too. I see many
kilns with the conroller box on the kiln. Kilns get hot, computers don't
like hot and then they flakey or die. My kiln, a Caramic Instruments 120
litre (http://www.ceramic-instruments.com) came with the wall mounted
controller as an option.

Also, just to add to the discussion about size, it does matter but what
you can do with it matters more ;-). My kiln is only 120 litres
interior space but the kiln breaks down into 3 sections. I can fire one
section, two or all three depending on how much stuff I have. It's also
easy to add rings (either with or without elements) to make the kiln
taller.

I'm thinking of getting another kiln, the same size. They will both use
the same wall mounted controller. Then I can fire one while the other is
cooling OR I could use the rings from the other kiln (unpowered because
the controller only has 3 plugs on it) to make the kiln larger.

Flexibility! What a concept!
