Another thing about PEG: for years, I've used PEG as a means of drying
wood turnings without the usual distortion. I turn the piece while green
to approximate shape, soak in PEG for a few days, and set aside to dry
for a few months. Then the final turning takes place, without having to
deal with the usual distortion.
