failed elements and refiring

Hi all;

I did a glaze firing last night and when I went and check this morning. The
kiln was not reaching temperature. It stalled at 877 C and it would not go
up. I keep hearing the kiln clicking but the temperature is not going up and
it even gone down. I just shut it off. This is not my kiln so I'm not
familiar with it, but the elements look tired.

In my haste last night, I even programmed it wrong. I fired 85 C to 600 C
and then 600 to 1220 I have a rate of 125 C/hr.

My question is: if I have to refire the wares [in my own kiln], do I have to
make any compensation due to the previous "half" firing? Can I just fire it
really quick, like 150 C per hour and go straight to around cone 8. This is
just some glossy glaze with my stained brush works. Nothing fancy or test
tiles that I have to "baby". Open studio this weekend, therefore I need to
fire quickly if I could.

Thank you in advance.

Hi May,

If you use the same cones they will take into account the heat work already
done.
