shino heck copper reds are my challenge

I feel as though my shino glazes are resulting in an ultimate surface
color, throwing a little wood ash and they become iridescent. Maybe it
is the salted and softened water I use and add to the bucket of
glazes. Have been glazing and firing copper reds with varying results
every glaze fire. Especially challenging on vertical surface pots.
Testing celadons and ash glazes under the copper red glaze, nice on
flat surface but not controllable on vertical ceramics. Too hot, too
thick something is missing lately. Thanks for your time.
