When is "just the right moment" for attaching handles? This is something,
which, as a beginner, I've been wondering for a time now.

I bet there are a lot of different opinions on this, but I like to put
handles on when the mug is just dry enough not to be able flex it
without cracking. At this point I feel I can handle it without
deforming it. At this point, too, the surface is dry enough that I
don't have to worry about unwanted finger marks. If I let a pot dry
slowly and evenly in a controlled environment, (a drying box, for
example) then the whole pot is of the same consistency. If the pot is
dried quickly in the open air then the bottom will be still a bit too
wet for optimal trimming as the top is a bit too dry for optimal handle
attachment. Balancing out these two limits will be the perfect time for
attachment. If that makes any sense.

Just when they reach the point when there is almost no give in the form
of the mug.
