a busibody 'tip' for the novice as respct Shipping 'heavy-ish things...

Dear Lee, Eleanor, all...

In wishing to ship or recieve something 'heavy-ish' such as
this Motor...

Consider for the recipient (or, the prospective recipient
may consider for themselves ) to obtain the use of a
Commercial, (that is, a real) 'Business' Address, and for
the item to be shipped "fed-ex Ground." ( ...'fed-ex'
Residential is more expensive and has a lower weight limit.)

And a 'zip-code' tells the prospective shipper absolutely
nothing so far as whether the destination is a Post Office
Box, some overseas "A.P.O." or if it is Hawaii or Alaska or
what. Few people keep a zip-code chart tattoo'd on their
thigh ( as say would be reminescent of the fellow in the
film 'Memento'...) I know I do not...

Or, even if typed into the fed-ex rate finder or the like,
it still requires the poor operative to do so in several
variations to discover the various rates as for that zip
code being Residental, Commercial or, if it is possibly a
P.O.Box, to go thence to the U.S.P.O. rate finder and type
it all in again 'there'...

In which case, if the address actually is a Post Office Box,
or an A.P.O. or Hawaii or Alaska...the item may only go via
the U.S.Post Office...which for something 'heavy-ish' is the
most expensive method of all. Or, it may go the most
expensive private carrier 'Air' rate.

Something as might have $12.00 or $15.00 via fed-ex Ground,
can end up being $65.00 or more via the U.S.Post Office, or
worse...

Keep this in mind...

Best wishes,

Phil
