Thanks to everyone for suggestions and comments on my kiln temp problem.
Staggering the shelves has decreased the difference between the top and =
bottom temps to within 50 degrees farenheit, and it seems very even left =
to right now.
I'm still a little curious about perforating the shelves (a-la pizza =
pan...) and may play with that later.
I was mostly concerned because I broke an element on my bisquing kiln =
and wanted a predictable temp before trying to bisque in my new gas =
kiln.
Now, if the wind will stop blowing, I will fire a bisque load!
That leads me to a couple other things...
First, I now have a smal (16" x 20") Skutt ^6 electric kiln with a =
broken element.
I am torn betwen replacing the elements or turning it into a wood =
ash/salt/soda kiln.
I have always wanted to do salt and wood firing, but never have.=20
I don't really have much interest in oxidation or low fire, and was only =
using the electric kiln because it was all I had.
Now I have my larger gas kiln, and I also have a home-made Raku kiln.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks again!
