Dear Kathie Johannes,
Unless your Pressure Cooker is made from Stainless steel it would be
unwise to fire it in a raku kiln with propane fuel. If it is
aluminium or an aluminium alloy it could be expected to melt.
It would also be unwise to hermetically seal any container and heat it
in a raku kiln or any other form of kiln. Air pressure build up could
lead to a devastating explosion if the valve venting system
malfunctioned.
My preference it to use thrown stoneware cylinders with well fitting
stoneware lids fired to the same bisque temperature as your Raku Body.
It works.
Best regards,
Ivor Lewis.

Hi,
Another big concern about this is the rubber gasket
that makes a tight seal between lid and pan of a
pressure cooker. It surely wouldn't survive even the
first part of a firing.
