Dear Jim,
Accepted ! ! on all counts.
I believe, based only on my reading, for as I said I am unfamiliar
with Shino Style Compositions and their utilisation, that this is a
very complex topic to comprehend.
Before making even a tentative suggestion as to what is happening you
first of all have to establish that the glaze batch is full molten and
that all of its ingredients are in solution. Having done that your
next trials would establish Transformation and Thermal Data and you
would need to prepare specimens for petrological analysis. Analysing
this information would show if your hypothesis has credibility. Can
you afford to take a "sabbatical year"?
I still prefer the "Organised, Controlled Chaos" hypothesis.
Best regards,
Ivor Lewis.
