I put up photos of my washed ash and ball clay glazes on leatherhard clay:

In the first photo are two guinomi without soda ash. Notice that the
glaze flakes off of the clay.
After reading David H's article on glazing leatherhard ware, I thought
his addition of 2% soda ash might help.
In the second photo, the non-soda ash glaze is flaking on the left,
while on the right, with 2% soda ash added, the glaze fits well and has
a harder surface.
I'll test fire in the next firing.
