I have several questions if someone could please point me in the right direction I
would be appreciative. I am using a base glaze (20/20 formula that makes a nice
clear and white with zircopax). I have added rutile and have come up with a nice
brown too. I am wondering is there a place on clayart or on the internet where I can
see what different colorants might come out as. I would like to run some tests next
week but did not want to mix up batches without having a color to shoot for. I also
am firing at ^6. Thanks for your help and have a great day.

Mark --
June Perry's list of effects of oxide washes gives a good idea of what each
colorant will do in cone 10 reduction firing. The link to her list is
http://www.angelfire.com/art2/shambhalapottery/oxidewashes.html
Val Cushing's Handbook is also great for this stuff. Good luck -- Steve S

Hi Mark,
On page 240 of Glen C. Nelson's " A Potters Handbook" you will find a
Guide to Use of Colorants, looks like what your looking for. Mike

Dear Mark Dal Pra,
I know of no such site that would guarantee sataisfaction, but try
"World of Pottery and Ceramics" at
http://clayzee.com/reference/glaze/recipes/stoneware/. Clay Times has
a good site as well at www.ceramiceducation.com
For a reference which is always to hand, profusely illustrated in
brilliant colour and dense with recipe material, invest in a copy of
Greg Daly, "Glazes and Glazing Techniques. A Glaze Journey". ISBN
0-86417-50-7
There are no images in "Clayart Archives" because the system does no
cater for them. But the site is worth visiting and exploring as some
of the posts give the sort of information you may seek. Go to
www.potters.org/categories.htm
Best regards.Ivor Lewis.
