When we wintered in Charleston I got a fair amount of bamboo by asking =
gardeners if I might have some of their trimmings.
But why not try Creative Whining? Try the Botanical Garden or an =
Arboretum near you, or some Museum that has a Japanese wing with bamboo =
and talk to the caretaker. The stuff does spread like weeds =
---hahahaha--and they will be glad to unload some trimmings. Even a =
panda owning zoo might help.
(FYI. A friend befriended the zoo keeper who looked after camels. She =
collected HUGE bag fulls of camel hair every spring because with his =
permission she picked the stuff off the walls and fences where the =
beasts scratched themselves. Now that there is an alpaca in every =
backyard it seems....Mebbe she does something else.)
