julie has it dead on:
not a hard thing to change coils.

it is like getting a radio out of a car.
take your time, scope it out, have some
tools on hand...know you have lots of small screws to remove.
remember how to put it back together. keep track.

a digital camera is your best friend.
take pix as you go. mark wires with tape or
make a picture of the wires. colored tape
is wonderful and use a sharpie pen. 1/1 , 2/2, 3/3 and so on.
just keep track of what you are doing.
like all simple science. keep a log. pictures if need be.
it is the best way.

crimping is the big headache. can't be done with
a simple pair of pliers. need a large tool. heavy force/
i do not use crimps. (those guys at skutt
have a great tool and strong hands.)
i do as heidi does, go to the
hardware and get the type that screw down. (electrical department)
you know/see john at ace hardware, the good guy that helps.
his wife sally knows too...in fact she is better in the electrical department.
copper/brass/with a nice big screw in system.
i hold the fitting with a vice grip/not my fingers
while making tight. a clean/sand-papered/tight
fitting is what it takes.

i use euclids for my coils, but there are other
sources that are great. thanks julie for the tip
of the fellow out in the nw. great help those
independents.

the more you can get your kiln apart during the process
is best. and clean everything while you have it taken apart.
i wash my kilns. soap and water. brush them out, vacuum,
soap and water. won't hurt brick. let it dry well out in the sun.
this is when i fill cracks with kaowool and itc 100 in a slurry.
makes a permanent crack filler.

one always washes a kiln before spraying with itc products.
(so why not wash them out when dirty with crap?)

and, the big TIP NUMBER ONE.
if you take all the wires off your car's spark plug system
and take out the plugs....what wires go back to what plug?
FIX ONE SPARK PLUG AT A TIME. THEN YOU ALWAYS GET
IT RIGHT.
