I am in charge of organizing this year's Mudfest Clay Olympics in
the San Diego area, and I am in a head-spin over finding potters who would
like to sell at this one day event. For the first time we are selling booth
space at the incredibly low price of $35, but so far I have only one
taker!! We have about 11 booth spaces available. We also hope that we will
get contestants for our pottery games. These include: fastest bucket"o
balls, fastest 6"cyl. throwing, no hands throwing, aesthetic throw, largest
all day pot, smallest wheel thrown pot, blind folded throwing, and the team
that can pull the longest handle! There are some GREAT prizes!
We are hoping to get several high school teams and their
instructors to compete, as we are raising funds to give to the high schools
to help support their programs. Any San Diego area high school teachers can
pick a team of five students. They won't have to pay to participate, and
the students can participate in any of the amateur competitions they want
to vie for prizes that will be awarded to first and second place winners.
We have sign up information on our web site at www.mudfest.org.
This event will be on October 9th. Please call me if you need further
information. My phone number is (619) 697-4597. ---Elly Dotseth, Ceramic
