Metaphor And Intuition...maybe

Hi Ivor, Steve, All,

I realise that this thread is further from clay now but I thought I'd chip
in. I have not read Optics but I have read Dover's (I think) edition of
Goethe's Theory of Colour, in English - fascinating if you get the chance.

As to the reflected vs transmitted light thing. Goethean experiments with
transmitted light and prisms can be done. I believe that he did them but if
pressed I would have to go and get refs, as I do not have the material to
hand nor sufficient recall. Anyhow, the classic one is where one creates a
screen, with a hole in the middle, that fills a window. The light comes from
the sun and one can view the screen through a prism. A similar experiment
may be done with reflected light.

Thanx
