I'm done day 2 of a grueling 3 day show....
the heat has been oppressive.....
craftspeople are melting.....
However I have in my possession 2 fabulous
pots from Paul Antone.....they were rescued
only because I was standing in his and Lynn's
booth when he said he was going to trash it.
It had a tiny chip on the rim. I protested trashing it
and he gave it to me..... and another that had chipped.
In return I gave them a piece of garden art that was a
prototype and not perfect either.
In this case I have to say what a great way to get rid of
seconds. I know I came home happy as a clam (which brings up
a totally off the wall thought..... How is clam happiness determined?)
Thank you Paul & Lynn!!!
Now about the benchless grinder.
I have been looking at bench grinders for quite a while now but
couldn't see where I could fit it in my already cramped studio.
I bought various grinding stones, paid $7.50 for a 14" grinding
disc that stuck to a bat but wore out really fast.
I came up with a system that is fast, easy and kicks up a lot less
dust.
I bought a bench grinder stone sans the motor.... just the stone
replacement ($17). I was going to mount it onto a thick piece of
plywood but then had an epiphany..... I put it in my Giffin Grip,
wet the stone and ground the roughness right off my pots....
WOW a new use for the Grip!
Note.....be very careful....easy does it......
a light touch on the pedal does the trick......
no need for warp speed Scotty!
Keep a sponge in one hand to wet the stone
or use one of those baby nasal bulb thingies.
Not only does it work on pot bottoms but
also kiln wash bits on kiln posts.
Ok...I'm off to catch some zzzzs before the last day of
the heat stroke show!:-)
Oh, if anyone is in the area you are welcome to visit us....
