It's good to know what works, sometimes also useful to know what didn't =
and why.
With all the discussion about sealing oil lamps I thought I'd be extra =
safe long term and use a test tube with a wick in it. It was a 3/4" wide =
6" test tube. Problem: after an hour, the oil was half gone and the wick =
was unable to suck up the oil so the lamp burned low. Also, the glass is =
quite fragile. Oh well.
Maybe a porcelain container fired upside down so the bottom is covered =
with glaze on both sides would help. Could later set inside another =
container if desired?=20
One could also glue extra feet on the lamp, which would be effectively =
separate.
Just a thought. Lesley puttering again.
