Jeez, I hope that this does not turn into a thread that will not
die.......................
of course, I had to get in a few more words on blue.
I seem to like blues that are not derived from cobalt.
Iron blues are wonderful.
Copper blues are great too.
With cobalt I feel a strong need to tone down the strength of it with
something else.........(I recall that I glass colors I read that one
pound of Cobalt in 50,000 pounds of glass and the resultant sample will
cause any observer to say Blue! ) Maybe the problem with cobalt is
that it is too powerful.
By the way these posts on clayart are not personal attacks. Many of us
are just out to share. I don't want the knowledge that my teachers
gave me ( a precious gift of their generousity) to end with me. I feel
that the effort that they took to teach and answer my many, many
questions deserves to be honored. I try to do that by passing things
on here on clayart. Being an old fart I feel the need to share what
history I have seen and have been told about. We stand on the
shoulders of our teachers, and they on theirs and so on back who knows
how long. I feel that most of us with a little more experience in clay
are like that here on clayart.
Peace,
Rick in Tacoma Washington where we had a cool day with clouds and the
slightest bit of drizzle to break the string of hot and sunny days.
(We were hotter than Los Angeles on many days in the last three weeks,
but don't tell them that ;-p)
