MudFire Pottery Center welcomes Mark Peters of Pine Root Pottery,
Bakersville, NC for a solo show of his wood-fired functional pottery. The
exhibit and sale will take place August 19 - September 12 of 2004. An
opening party and artist reception will be held Thursday August 19 from 6-10
pm. Over 100 pieces will be on display. Mark your calendars and come to
the party!
Mark will also host a weekend artist workshop in conjunction with the show
August 6-8 at MudFire's new Decatur location (175 Laredo Drive, across from
the Farmers Market, visit http://www.mudfire.com/ws_peters20040807.htm for
details). Mark will present a slideshow about his work and studio on Friday
August 6, starting at 7:30 pm. The slideshow is free and open to the
public, with a $5 donation for refreshments appreciated. The workshop will
include two days of demonstration and Q&A. Very few spaces left at this

About the Artist:
Mark Peters is one of North Carolina's preeminent wood fire potters. His
work has been exhibited nationally and featured in Ceramics Monthly. He is a
member of several prestigious organizations including the Southern Highland
Craft Guild, Toe River Arts Council, and the Potters of the Roan. He holds
an MFA from the University of Tennessee, and a BFA from the Columbus College
of Art and Design. He has taught workshops recently at the Penland School of
Crafts, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, John C. Campbell Folk School,
Odyssey Center for the Ceramic Arts, and Appalachian State University.
