studio lighting/fluorescents

i've been in my new studio for about a year and a half.

i went with 3 very large fluorescent fixtures(4 bulbs, $100 each
fixture) in the main room and two smaller ones in the glaze room. the
light is great BUT ( and this is a very large but for me) it totally
interferes with my radio and tv reception. i've had to add two
freestanding lamps around my wheel so i can listen to npr's "this
american life" at night or watch any t.v. our electrician friend says
that's just the way it is and we can't remedy it. i am a night owl so
this would have been a choice i wouldn't have made.

thanks.

Heidi:
Your electrician is correct, as far as _his or her_ trade is
concerned.
The solution to your problem, though not cheap,
is to move the antennae for the receivers (TV and radio) outside
that room, perhaps hang them on the side of the building, and run
the wires through the wall or a window.
We switched to "energy saving fluorescents" throughout the house
when we remodelled. Haven't been able to get a cell phone call
inside since.
"Modern" technology is not always an improvement.
