all in one post.
man, i am tired.

gail....never, never, never apply itc over anything but
brick, and clean clay stuff.
i have it on everything. but, over new and clean stuff.
sorry.
but, even grinding all that alumina hydrate/silica wash
will not do.
start with fresh. i think you are stuck.
once you wash shelves....they become one sided,
and flake junk. i prefer no wash to flaky wash.

one of my old teacher sayings is/was:

`i don't give a damn about talent/it is a dime a dozen.
but, give me a kid with energy...man, then you get the real
deal...combine energy with talent...man, watch em go.
self direction is the key to life. without it...just another dork
on the couch...sitting in his underwear, watching tv and drinking
beer.`

another great chinese firing. deeper red/mahogoney this time.
new clay body...a bit of reduction...about 2 on the oxyprobe.
big stuff....but more subtle. we are pleased.
had a few stick to the shelves. no big deal. learn from it.
throw out that glaze. just too runny. that was hc/893/xp
(joe loves those numbers. ) i call it tem5. that would be
temmoku 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. the cl1345 Q was not good either.
we will fix it. jo is stretching now. but, makes me smile.
a chemist will have about 856 variations. i like no 3, under
no 1. otto loved the pots, he now has one. made him smile.
he is the first to own one. that is the way it should be. we
are going to pack em all up/box them. seal them away.
wait for the right time to spring them. we may do a mini show
in baltimore...in the clayart room.. twenty pots. for just a day or
so. we will see.
i have a hundred and 15 slides done. still not perfect yet.
light is hard with these. we will get it.
