Jim Murphy on fri 20 aug 04

Hello all,

Some recent "Art" topics have inspired this new poetry thread with hope that
others may also contribute a poem related to Art or Artists.

My contribution - "Born Fearless" - is below.

Best wishes,

Jim Murphy

Born Fearless ( a poem by Jim Murphy)

Yesterday born fearless
Soon experience pain
Stop right now
Or move toward future gain

Settle for status quo
Or go for the "Big Show"
Some will put down
They judge, they know

Outsiders often left out
They don't belong
Only true talent may win
Cliques shall remain strong

Serve the institution
Or serve society
Choose a role
Your own propriety

Fail over and over
Fear breeds more pain
Today born fearless
Success again

Sweat

Hot Dog Days of summer
Sweat dripping and running
making the clay glisten.
It, I, we are together again
as when the universe began
and there was no difference.
That came later.
The summer pieces are the best.
Now we sit in display waiting to be bought.
Each piece a combination of all the universe.
From the beginning.

Rick
