Hi,
This old potter is trying to get back into the studio after a long drought -
now putting finishing touches on the new building. Bought (cheap) some old
equipment - a J W Good 29" octagonal kiln and a Craftools electric wheel.
Already have another kiln and Shimpo and Brent wheels but I'm considering
some kind of classes for income. Anybody familiar with the Good kiln or the
Craftools wheel. I have no problem rewiring the kiln, just want to know if
it's an oddball. The wheel is studily built, odd height, with a pedal/cable
mechanism that adjust slack on a drive belt and pulley to the wheel head.
It seems backward, though I haven't plugged it in yet (electricity is one
of the finishing touches to the studio)
Also any advice regarding educational uses of studio space would be
appreciated. I'm in a rural location. Thanks in advance.

Hey Thom,
Good to hear from you! So, no pots for years? What's up with that? Have
you retired from teaching and now are going to have a go at the craft fair
scene? Only advice I've got for you would be not to expect it to be the
way it was 25 years ago.
Best,

Good Kilns are still being manufactured, so parts are available. My
kiln tech can answer any of your questions on it. His name is David.
You can e-mail him at tech@brackers.com or call toll-free (888)
822-1982. He said he's heard of Craftools wheels, but only vaguely. He
might be able to help with it just from his experience with other wheels.
