what a tragic moment.
of course i did not do it.
i was on sarah's wheel.
i would not crack a bison tool.

but, for phil:

is is possible to fix a crack in
my favorite bison tool?

i know, hard as can be, takes a diamond
to sharpen it.

but, can a crack be welded/fixed?
actually, talk to us about the metal
in bison tools, what is it, how do you shape it,
how do you weld it?

Hi Mel,

I did the same thing, and Phil fixed it for me. Brazed the crack.

A lady customer came into the shop, distracted me, and I dropped it. A
tragic moment indeed.

I sent it to Phil and it came back fixed, sharpened, and with the handle
oiled. Made me happy.

Smooth trimming,

It depends a lot on where on the surface the crack is. One of mine broke
right where the large end of the loop attaches to the handle. I used some
epoxy to build up the area around the break, because it wasn't in a working
area of the tool. It's been fine for over 4 years this way.
