Hello All,
I've been making pots for just under 2 years now. I finished my 3rd firing
this last week. I've been trying to reproduce a Karatsu style glaze and
though overfired and under oxidized, this was the first time that it wasn't
a complete loss. I've put up a very simple website composed of thumbnails
and photos of the stuff. This is nowhere near the level of work that I see
from other Clayart members (so don't get your hopes up : )), but I would
really appreciate some constructive criticism on the work (positive and
negative welcome of course). Any aspect you care to comment on is welcome.
I'm seeking opinions for 2 reasons: 1. I want criticism from a not purely
Japanese aesthetic/perspective, and 2. It's too hard to get an unreserved
opinion from most folks here.
The website is a simple string of thumbnails which if clicked will appear
larger in the pane above. Each piece has 3-6 or so photos, the first pic in
the group should have a title of the object and comments (I just put them in
for my own benefit, this site will be a running visual record for me of my
work and testing)
All of the work aside from the bowls is hand built, mostly coil and paddle.
The glazes are a combination of bought ingredients and stuff I dug up in the
hills around my area. One word of warning: these fall into the brown, lumpy
pot category.
