Blue lagoon slime can be prevented if one always throws on a bat! I =
always use one not as a bat-to-support-pots--though I do that for =
plates--but when throwing things I cut off, or off the hump. The bat is =
a second wheel head. As it is plastic or wood, the monsters can't get =
through! No slime!

Bentonite. Different ways to go. Weigh it out and blend it in with the =
clay in your glaze, or some other material. Mix it in well. No need =
for sieving, just disperse it as you might cinnamon in the flour when =
you start a yeast cake. Then when the mix is added to the water for the =
glaze the bentonite will not trouble you. Or. Put a half cup or so of =
Bentonite in 3 quarts of water in a gallon jug. You will get a yukky =
jell which you then can add to your glazes as you go. Last: put some =
water and the required amount of bentonite in the pail you will be =
adding your glaze ingredients to the NIGHT BEFORE you start weighing out =
and mixing glaze. =20

The point is that bentonite expands and swells in water and if it is =
added to the slurry dry tends to make a most unattractive sponge like =
blob. Not harmful but time consuming and yukky.
