Interesting comments.
There is little or no information in books written about Throwing
which describes interactions of the various forces that come into play
as clay is manipulated at the Wheel.
If anyone mentioned or wrote about Levers, Triangle of Forces, Torque,
Angular Velocity, Yield Point and other elementary principles of
traditional mechanics they would be met with deaf ears or closed eyes.
Yet when diagrams are drawn using these ideas to analyse the working
of a Potter's Wheel enlightening ideas fall into place. I am sure your
example illustrates this.
