Hi Tamaralynn,

The Art League of Alexandria offers classes and has a residency program that includes shared studio space: www.theartleague.org. It’s about 10 blocks north of the main Old Town Alexandria area - which is probably about 45 minutes from you if you're not trying to do the trek during DC's infamous rush hour.

BTW: On October 2, the Delray area of Alexandria is having their “Art on the Avenue” event, where local artists (including at least 20 potters) show/sell their work. It’s a good place to chat with folks about the local ceramics/pottery community (and just a fun event in general). Here’s their site: www.ArtOnTheAvenue.org

In terms of places to visit, if you haven’t discovered it already the Torpedo Factory in Old Town Alexandria is a good place to see ceramics created by local artists, as well as other works.

I've lived in the area for about 10 years and am only a novice at pottery, but I'd be happy to help out with any questions I can - feel free to e-mail me off-list with questions.

Sincerely,

Linda Tomodachi
