anyone know how this B-mix clay reacts with salt before I try it? Yes, I know you're gonna say test first, but I was just wondering if anyone has done it already. Thanks!

By the way, the kiln in the wood shed works great with the power ventilator in the roof and soffit vents down low in the door. It didn't even go over 100 degrees with the kiln lid propped open up to 1000 degrees. Pretty remarkable and I feel relieved now. It was another one of our typical hot Houston Texas days too with the door closed. Thanks everyone for your expertise.

Hi Kim-
I have had a number of B-mix pots in my wood/salt firings. I have a
single chamber cat arch kiln
with a relatively small setting, and I use about 12 pounds of salt,
including salt cups. I would say that
the b mix itself is fairly inert in that context, sort of grayish-
pretty much a white-stoneware look.
But did quite nicely with slips on it. Helmer, avery, d'arvor , epk
kaolin slips, etc, all flashed quite nicely over this
body.

cheers

I was fortunate enough to have several B-mix pieces in a
salt-firing at Craig Martell's, and got gorgeous results,
particularly with brushwork on the bare clay using a rutile/iron
stain. Yummy! Thanks again, Craig!
