books from the past year

I am now the librarian for the Triangle Potters Guild in
Raleigh, N.C. We have a limited budget. My predecessor had
a large collection of books donated last year and
consequently did not purchase many recent books.

I would like recommendations for books published in the
past year or two. I've started making a list of books and
will be going through my Ceramics Monthly issues looking
for more--but nothing beats recommendations from other
potters as to what is worthwhile and what isn't.

Our guild includes a wide range of potters--from beginners
to masters. I'm trying to find a mix of books that would be
useful for all levels. My list of possibilities so far
include:

The Complete Guide to High-Fire Glazes by John Britt
Alternative Kilns and Firing Techniques
Handbuilt Pottery Techniques Revealed
Catawba Indian Pottery
Pottery Form by Daniel Rhodes
Coiled Pottery by Betty Blandino
The Potter's Book of Glaze Recipes by Emmanuel Cooper
Pottery: A Life, A Lifetime (obviously)
Women Potters: Transforming Traditions

The library also includes videos, but I haven't even begun
to think about them yet.

So, feel free to write me if you like or dislike any of the
above and to suggest other recent books that I should look
into ordering.

I would suggest adding Vince's book, Clay A Studio Handbook, to your library.

Oh, and do add Master Cone Six Glazes, by Ron Roy and John Hesselberth.

Make that Mastering Cone Six Glazes. I really shouldn't write when I'm tired.

Can't say it enough!

The best book you will EVER buy (for ^6) is Mastering Cone 6 Glazes by John
Hesselberth adn Ron Roy. If you have ONLY one book in your library for these
glazes--buy it! You won't be disappointed!
