Hi all, I recently have found myself in a position without access to a fuel kiln and without a place to build one. So I bought a used 7 cubic foot Paragon electric in good shape and am looking to convert it to a Cone 6 reduction kiln and i had a few questions. Firstly, as the concept has been floating around for awhile, is it a viable alternative for a person in my position? Until now, I have used iron and titanium exclusively as colorants and have a wide pallette of cone 10 celadons, ambers and tenmokus. Has anyone had experiences with these families of glazes at Cone 6 electric reduction? Should I buy new elements and coat them with ITC 213 or just spray over the existing (in good shape) with ITC 100 and 296 and replace them when they wear out? I have looked through the archives and read Nils Lou's book, but I can't seem to find much info on vent
ing. I would like to keep the kiln in the studio, if possible, but how should I vent? Lastly, anyone that has any other pertinent information on their experiences with electric reduction
, I would greatly appreciate your anecdotes.
Thanks, Kendall
