Just a quick note about the upcoming Oct. 22-24 Liz Quakenbush workshop, "The Decorated Form" offered through The Art League of Alexandria in Northern Virginia.
Here's how the catalog describes the workshop:
"Decoration is one way to make the world more complex and beautiful. This class explores decoration -- visually, metaphorically, and symbolically. In this hands-on workshop, students create dynamic ceramic surfaces using both wet clay and glazes. Handbuilding and brushwork glaze techniques are demonstrated. Slide presenations and discussions include European and Islamic decorative clay tradtions. Please bring an inquisitive mind, an eager set of hands, and "glaze ready" bisque ware.
Workshop cost: $160 ($145 for Art League of Alexandria members/students)
Friday: October 22, 2004: 7 pm to 9 pm - pot luck and slide show
Sat/Sun: October 23 & 24, 2004: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: hands-on workshop
