porcelain that will fire to cone 1450C.>> Ron Roy

Dear Ron Roy,
This makes me feel like Consultant to the consultants.

Sorry, no recipes but I suggest you get your head into the following
book and Learned Papers.

Singer, F. and Singer. S. S. Industrial Ceramics. London. Chapman Hall
.1963

Staley Homer F. Melting Point and Deformation Eutectics. Transaction
of the American Ceramic Society. 1911, V13, pp 668-682.

Watts, A. S. A Study of Eutectic Glasses as Fluxes in Whiteware Bodies
American Ceramic Society Bulletin, 1952, Vol 31, p 456.

Surely a good place to start is with experimental triaxial blend of =
Kaolin, Silica and K-Felspar, concentrating on mixtures which are close =
to the Kaolin/Silica biaxial axis. Make cones of your mixtures and fire =
to your projected cone maturity temperature. Use the Watts model.
Glazes which would be suitable would be found close to the =
Felspar/Silica biaxial axis though I would consider using a 6*6 tile and =
bring in Wollastonite as a fourth component to ensure getting somewhere =
near K2O-0.3,CaO-0.7, Al2O3-1.2, SiO2-12.0/14 (Cone 11/12 Hypothetical =
UMF) .

Sounds like an interesting research project
Best regards,
Ivor Lewis.
