Hello Roy,
I did a bit of work a little time back with a high fired porcelain of high
strength that vitrified around 1400oC. It may be useful as a starting
point for you.
As the actual raw materials I used may not be available near you Ive noted
the alkali contents of each component:
25% of a kaolin with K2O at 1.6%
18% of a ball clay with K2O at 1.8%
15% of a feldspar with K2O at 4.1% and Na2O at 4.8%
27% quartz with K2O at 0.01%
15% alumina with Na2O at 0.40%
The chemical analysis of the body was:
SiO2 59.1
Al2O3 32.1
Fe2O3 0.39
TiO2 0.18
CaO 0.09
MgO 0.15
K2O 1.38
Na2O 0.82
LOI 5.80
If youre interested I can email you a firing curve.
Regards,
Andrew
