MOLD !!!!!!
Damn, that bad word again !!!.
Latex and other paint additives have some nasty shit !!!!

Please, ....People, wherever you go, don't forget........
The guy selling you stuff in a hardware store is usually dumber than you are
!!! He wants to sell you something !!! I repeat !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he
is selling !!

Depending on the store and region of the country, additives are organic tin
compounds, and /or organics that are residual.
THAT'S why they work !!!!!! They persist in the paint for years to kill
anything that tries to grow !!!!! Every time you touch it, a residue goes
with it, to fight your mold or whatever.

Go to the old time basics.
Proper cleanliness. Sterilize your tools and storage containers. A mold or
bacterial culture is what you're fighting. Just pretend you're canning
preserves !!!!
It's the same !!

Wash your hands, cover containers, use common sense, and keep things clean.
Use bleach, alcohol, Lysol etc .
..or, just get rid of old shit !!! It's just dirt / clay. Dump clay water.
Dispose of waste.
Why spend a dollar's worth of antiseptic to save 5 cents worth of material
!!!!!!!!!

I got a good idea from someone about this: try the anti-mold agents
that paint stores will sell for use with latex paint. Here in the
foggy SF Bay area, moldy paint is a problem, so the stores keep
something available. He suggested using it in glazes at the same
concentration that one would use for latex paint.

Cheers,
Linda

Linda, have you tried this, and if so, what effect if any did it have on the
finished glaze? Also, did it make any difference in the glaze in liquid
state (i.e.: viscosity, defloculation, etc.)? Do you know what the stuff IS
that kills the moldies?

Thanks
L

Hi Linda,

These 'Latex-Paint' anti-mold ingredients might not be so
good, as for absorbing through one's
skin, or, for breathing whatever gasses may arise from them.

Applying, or being around drying Latex Paint is really
overall far more insideously toxic and dangerous than the
'old' Oil Paints ever were, and are associated with a wide
range of complaints from mis-carriage, birth-defects, kidnet
and liver damage, brain damage, and other dangers to
the young, delicate, or compromised, as well as dangers to
Pets or the
elderly or to anyone to some degree...

Latex has been a big nasty sell and pee-arrr schmoose, and
do not ever kid yourself, it is full of poisonous stuff.

Give me Oil base, anyday...
