Can anyone explain why the wood in a surface pit (scrap hardwoods from
furniture makers) is oozing blackish shiny guck? And not burning to ash,
just smoldering and leaving only charred wood? The wood was dry, and so was
the hardwood sawdust at the bottom of the pit. This is 2nd time, but I
thought the first happened because some sawdust was damp.
Appreciate any suggestions.
