Hello Kathy,
What colour are the shelves? If made from SiC they will appear to be made
from black, almost shiny granular material.
Obviously I don't know for sure but silicon carbide seems less likely than
other refractory given their background due to the high cost but
relatively low temperatures used for sanitaryware.
