pedestals for work......

I have built wood square pedestals but my husband brought home some leftover
sona-tubes from a concrete pour. You can find the tubes at Home Depot or Lowe's. You can spray paint them white, I opted for black. I put a glass round plate on top with about 1/4" over lap. You can also put a light in the bottom and light your pieces from the bottom (if you do this drill a few ventilation holes and use low watts).
The sona tube comes in graduated sizes so you can nest them for traveling to shows. I found these light weight and easy to make and cut. They look nice mixed in with square. Good luck!

Sandy,
This suggestion sounds great. I say this as I am hauling these large
heavy wood boxes for my show this weekend. But I have a question. How do you
keep from some one toppling these? Or the glass from sliding off? The show I
am preparing for has 30,000 people going through it, and even with heavy
boxes I am paranoid some child will plow against them and the staging will
topple. What do you do to keep it sturdy?

We've used our pedestals for five years and never had a problem with
someone knocking them over. Our square pedestals have the advantage that
they can be folded flat. We used sono tubes for years and never had a
problem with them either. But they are heavy and awkward to transport.
