nils has done this. in his wood fired kiln.
he took an old kiln shelf, placed it near the fire
box of the kiln. brick under each end. placed a 25lb bag of dry/very dry
clay on the shelf.
fired the kiln to cone what? 13/14.
the kiln shelf sagged into a U shape.
next firing.
same deal, except that he coated a shelf with itc
100 on all sides, top and bottom.
fired the kiln, 25lb lump of clay.
the shelf did not move. flat as can be.
he has the pictures.
now, that is a story.
