Hi Lou,

I have Outlook Express...how do I hit 'bounce'?

I do not find this option under the (top) 'messages' tab.

Thanks,

This is really unlikely to have the desired effect. Spammers don't remove
bounced email addresses from their list. It's just too much trouble for
them to bother with. And in many cases the reply-to address in the email
is invalid anyway.

Antispam software can help to filter out spam. I've had good luck with
Spamnix, but I believe it is only supported on Eudora. Once "trained", it
has filtered out probably 99% of the spam I get with only a very occasional
false positive.

Lou is probably using Mac Mail.

The bounce sends this error message:

<<< 550 5.1.1 unknown or illegal alias: lkatz@falcon.tamucc.edu
550 ... User unknown
Reporting-MTA: dns; postoffice.fw.tamucc.edu

It may occasionally remove you from a list. Most of the time these
accounts are temproary and the return mail is never even looked at.
occasionally a message is sent out trying to illicit a response, then a
User unknown will do you some good.
