Hello Ron - I wrote to Jiri off the list and mentioned my problem, which was
as he described, but only on the surface within a 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch
height footring. Low iron clay body. Double dipped. I was wondering about
the drying or heating/cooling within that area. MarjB

Hi Marj,

I had not heard of this before but I am interested as I am using shino
these days.

Did it happen to only some pots - where were they in the kiln? Kiln bottoms
cool faster than tops so I am wondering if that is a factor.

It sure sounds like a shivering type problem - any thing you might be able
to pick up on might be useful to help solve the problem - like materials
changes - new batch/old batch - changes in clay body like new batches.

Glaze melted more or less than others, thicker - thinner applicatons -
where does it happen on the pot and was it dried up right - or in a draft -
or slowely.

Anything ?
