I picked this tip up in a glass class a year or so ago.
"To make glass shards put bottles under broiler for 5 minutes then into ice
water then between paper and tap with hammer."
I have some old burlap sacks that I think I'll use to do the hammer thing
instead of paper. The shards have a tendency to fly out between the sheets
of paper.
