Hello Clayarters,
For several weeks now I have been reading the "list", what a wonderful =
thing. To me this embodies the internet's purpose. It is a joy to find a =
group of like minded creative clay people. The word that comes to mind =
is one that many an American has shouted in my living room, YEHAA!
I recently bought and installed my first kiln. A Craftek 1800FTG50 with =
a RKC REX-P100. With the help of many industry based professionals I was =
able to convert this from an LPG burning kiln to a high pressure natural =
gas kiln.I have gone from the Uni's modified Phoenix, to a kiln which in =
my mind, only needs a nose cone to be launch into space!
I am currently in a position of setting up a studio and I would like to =
share my opinion of "how to" decide where to work from and depth of =
commitment. I believe a person must challenge ones self as to whether =
ceramics is a life's work calling? /huge grey area/ a nice chat and a =
couple of chrissy presents? I wonder could it all come down to a =
Question of degrees of love? Is it then maybe feeling out what will =
fulfill this love? maybe this will create an answer showing degree of =
involvement. That answer in turn allowing a decision of Super =
studio/the huge grey area in between/Community centre, and as such there =
are as many answers as there are people, all answers are valid and all =
things change. Knowing of course that the degrees of pleasure found in =
what one does comes down to a persons skill of mind, not the skill of =
ones hands. Then again I could be completely wrong?
Thank you,
Alex
