kiln vent parts

I was wondering if one can just buy the fan assembly for the Orton Kiln
Vent and who might be a vendor for those parts?

We have quite a few vent systems that are wearing out and it seems
ashamed to buy a whole new unit when the only really bad part is the fan
and in some cases the motor or both.

Thank you,

Hi, Chuck,

I haven't the answer to your parts availability query, but if you're
spending significant bucks on parts anyhow, I would suggest switching
to a system where the fan and motor were further downstream from the
kiln. Bailey makes and sells one.

This would serve to increase the life of fan and motor assembly,
probably dramatically, since it would be dealing with cooler and
diluted kiln exhaust.

Of greater interest to me, as others have said here over the years, a
system where the blower is at the very end of the vent, furthest from
the kiln, would provide a safer situation, since it would be unlikely
to leak nasties into the studio since none of the vent "pipe" would
be under pressure.

Hey Chuck
Orton has a refurbishing kit that retails for $150.00. I believe it
includes the fan as well as some other items that you may or may not
need. We are Orton distributors. I'd be happy to look into what
exactly is included in the refurb kit and whether you can get just the fan.

Try Granger. They sell quite a few fans including Dayton blowers that
are often used in kiln vents.
