remember the longer the tongue, the easier they are
to back up.
boat trailers with a simple box over the wheels will
back into any spot. short tongues turn real fast.
and, you can see the boat trailer out of your rear window.
small trailers disappear. and, as phil says, often they are
very inexpensive, or free. i have three, two free and one
cost me 75 bucks.
we have one trailer at the farm made from an old amc axel.
it is about 10 inches off the ground. great for moving rock
and heavy stuff. has car wheels.
mark.
i think you are correct. numbers vary, just like
a pyrometer, or gas gauge. it sounds like you have
it nailed.
i am firing mine right now. cone 9, oxyprobe at .13
or, oxy. i fire most of the time right at 60. and i get
a very nice reduction at that number. downdraft.
and, placement is very important.
you can move it around and get altogether different numbers.
that is why i recommend, one place, same place....consistent.

funny, as my energy builds in the kiln, the numbers rise.
when i see the oxyprobe hit 70 i turn down the gas.
balance it at 60.

Obviously, you've never met MY ex-wives.
They never backed up from anything! And they had sharper, longer
tongues than any other creature on the planet...ROFL
