the sawed-off brick in the orton cone box show --

I was at NCECA, and saw the brick. I 'bout laughed my head off.
The Orton people, who happened to be there at the time, agreed
that it was a "funny once" thing that would never happen again;
but it was such a riot that they couldn't resist, and I can't blame
them.

Far as I understand it, the Cone Box show is about whatever strikes
the judges as appropriate (within the given rules; I guess "made by"
includes "fabricated by" if necessary) and good (not just funny, either
--
there was some truly serious work as well). I don't know what the
rejected entries were like, but I can tell you that I was really pleased
with what I saw in the show at NCECA this year, just as I was two
years back, and I hope to try to get something into it next time.

Please don't "sour-grapes" about that brick -- it was one of the
funniest
things in the show. Hell, it was one of the funniest pottery-related
things I've seen in quite a while.

If we can't have a good solid sense of humor about what we're doing,
we're sunk.

Cheers --
