You don't say what kind of burners you have on your kiln. That
information would be helpful. Also burner port sizes, exit flue sizes,
BTU input of burners are variables to consider. The fact that it is a
fiber kiln should not be a factor in the ability to reduce, assuming the
kiln is reasonably tight. I would try closing the damper until I got a
lazy flame out the bottom peep, and give the burners enough air so to get
enough turbulence to cause even reduction throughout. Even with signs of
strong reduction, without the turbulence needed (by giving the kiln
enough air) the reduction can be quite spotty. Check out Nils Lou's book
intitled The Art Of Firing for good information on this subject.
